Math Buddies Support

Math Buddies: Wilderness Trail is a K–8 math practice game made by Austin Amento, an independent developer. If something is not working or you have a question, email me directly — a real person reads every message.

thesoloquestgame@gmail.com

I aim to reply within two business days.

When reporting a problem, it helps enormously if you include your device model (for example iPhone 15, Pixel 8, or iPad Air), your OS or browser version, and what you were doing in the app when it went wrong. A screenshot is worth a paragraph.

Common questions

I bought the unlock but the grades are still locked

On iOS or Android, open the unlock screen and tap Restore purchases. Purchases are tied to the store account that made them, so make sure the device is signed in to that same account. On the web, sign in with the same parent email used to buy. If an entitlement still does not appear, email me with the platform and date of purchase and I will help sort it out.

How do I cancel the monthly subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by the payment platform, not by the app. On iOS open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and select Math Buddies. On Android, use Google Play's Subscriptions page. For a web purchase, use the Manage purchase link on the unlock screen or the management link in your purchase email. A grown-up answers a question before the app opens any management destination.

I cannot cancel a subscription or issue a refund on your behalf; only the payment platform can. iOS refund requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com, Android requests go through Google Play, and web requests go through the checkout or payment-management support flow.

What is free, and what costs money?

The first unit of every grade — Kindergarten through Grade 8 — is free to play, so you can try the real thing at your child's level before deciding. Unlocking the rest of the trail is a one-time lifetime purchase or a monthly subscription, whichever suits you. There is no trial that quietly converts, and no ads either way.

How do I start my child at a different grade?

Tap any grade on the Trail Register home screen to open it. Choosing a new grade starts you at the beginning of that grade — it is not a placement test, and completed work is never erased when you change grades. You can move between grades as often as you like.

How do I reset progress, or hand the app to a second child?

Tap Reset all progress at the bottom of the Trail Register home screen and confirm. This erases the learner's name, grade, companion, XP, stars, streaks, badges, game bests, and pace setting from the device.

Please note Math Buddies currently supports one learner profile per device, so a reset is how you hand it to a sibling. Your purchase is not affected by a reset. Multiple profiles is the most-requested feature and is on my list.

The questions are too hard, or too fast

Open the Trail Register home screen and change Play pace:

  • Relaxed — no timed races, still full treats and rewards
  • Standard — grade-appropriate pace
  • Challenge — faster play once material is mastered

You can switch pace any time. Progress and lesson order stay exactly the same.

My child cannot read the questions yet

Tap the speaker icon on a question to have it read aloud. It uses your device's built-in voice and works alongside VoiceOver. Read-aloud is designed for developing readers, and kindergarten and first-grade content assumes very little reading.

Does it work offline?

Yes, once the app has loaded. Lessons, games, and progress run on the device with no internet connection. You only need to be online to make or restore a native-store purchase, or to manage a web purchase in the browser.

Is my child's information safe?

Math Buddies has no ads, no chat, and no third-party tracking. Kids do not create accounts. On iOS and Android, your child's name and progress stay on the device. On the web, a grown-up can optionally save progress with a parent email. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

I found a wrong answer or a typo in a lesson

Please tell me. Include the grade, the unit, and the question if you can. Curriculum mistakes get fixed first and shipped quickly.

Accessibility

Math Buddies supports read-aloud for every question, VoiceOver, and Reduce Motion (which turns off screen transitions and animation). If something in the app is hard to use with an assistive setting you rely on, email me — accessibility reports go to the top of the list.
